David Shover Corzilius, Col, USAF, Ret., 69, of Remsen, N.Y., passed away Monday, February 24, 2003 in Albany Medical Center. He was born on December 19, 1933 in Columbus, Ohio, the son of Cleon David and Ava Belle Shover Corzilius. David attended Jackson Local Schools in Grove City, Ohio, and graduated from The Ohio State University in Columbus with a BSc in Agriculture and George Washington University in Washington, D.C. with a MSc in Business Administration.

David had a 30 year distinguished career in the United States Air Force retiring with the rank of Colonel. His decorations included the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with 1 device, Air Force Commendation Medal with 2 devices, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 4 devices, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with 3 devices, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with palm, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and the NY State Meritorious Service Medal. After retiring from the Air Force, David was the Oneida County Budget Director from 1985-1991 and worked with the Griffiss Local Development Corporation from 1993 until recently. On February 24, 2001 he married Bonnie Jean Kersey in First Presbyterian Church, Boonville, New York. David was a member of the Mohawk Valley Chapter, SPEBSQSA, The Retired Officers Association, Senior Citizens Council of Rome and the First Presbyterian Church, Boonville.

Surviving are his beloved wife, Bonnie;1 his children, Brian Stephen Corzilius and his wife, Candice Kathryn Clayton Corzilius of Cloverdale, Calif., Dr. Susan Paulena Corzilius and her husband, David Clifford Shall of Westlake Village, Calif., Cynthia Elaine Corzilius of Columbus, Ohio and David Bruce Corzilius and his committed partner, Loree Jarrell of Palmyra, Va. David also leaves 3 grandchildren, Alexandra Corzilius Shall, Hannah Corzilius Shall and Samantha Corzilius Shall of Westlake Village, California; and his sister, Lenore McBride of Tucson, Arizona. He was predeceased by a brother William Russell Corzilius on December 21, 1997. David is also survived by Bonnie's children, Wendi Ackerman of Syracuse, New York, Mark Ackerman of Brewerton, New York, and Starr Parmley of New London, Connecticut.

It fails to mention that Dave was also survived by his first wife (of 45 years), Yvonne Mona Clifton, who mothered and raised his 4 children Brian, Susan, Cynthia and David while supporting his military career.
