FROM "HORTONS IN AMERICA" 1929: (pg 325)
THOMAS WHITE, a distinguished soldier of the Revolution, member of the
Boston Tea Party, came to America, 1771, to Philadelphia.
FROM "HORTONS IN AMERICA" 1929: (pg. 326)
THOMAS WHITE was of protestant Irish parentage, born in Kilkenny, Ireland, 1739
He was probably a visitor to the Masonic Lodge of St.Andrews, Boston, the night
when they disguised as Indians and swept the cargo of tea into the water.
His stay in Boston could not have been long. The next heard of him was in the
war he helped to start.
His record is that of a soldier in the Continetal Army in the 2nd Pennsylvania
Regiment, 1776 to 1881, in McTeers Company of Cumberland County Militia and
also in Captain Harrell's Volunteers against the Indians, serving in some
capacity the eight years of the war.
Afterward he and his wife, Elizabeth Jones, who was his helper and inspiration
immigrated to the wilds of Huntingdon County,(PA), and took up a tract of land
which they cleared and developed into a valuable farm.
There were twenty-one children. Three of his sons served in the war of 1812.
His son Ezekiel was killed at Lundy's Lane.
Thomas White died 1820 at 81 years of age and lies buried by his wife.
[Evans Cemetery, Six Mile Run, Broad Top Twp., Bedford County, Pennsylvania]
His descendants and members of Patriotic Societies erected an enduring monument
to their memory.
The inscription reads: "In memory of Thoma White, One of the Brave Heroes of
The Boston Tea Party and a Revolutionary Soldier and Patriot for American
Independence." The opposite side recites the famly dates of births and deaths.
The monument was unveiled July 4th, 1899, with appropriate ceremonies and
orations of dedication and reunion of descendants. The affair was the subject of
sketches in many of the eastern periodicals, making it of national importance.
The children, and children's children of Thomas White are allied by marriage
with Hortons and Horton descendants. Their posterity is unnumbered.

"The list of the 'Men of the Boston Tea Party' was compiled from a number of
different sources, mainly biographies written after the Tea Party by some of
the men who participated...I [M. Henneteau] believe that a few were included
based on family records, but all of them had to be documented by the Boston Tea
Party chapter of the D.A.R., who registers them in an official capacity. You
can send any info to the Boston Tea Party Ship & Museum, Congress St. Bridge,
Boston, MA 02210 to my attention."
