I have only the legend of my ancestry to go by. I have always been told that 2 Cornelius brothers
stowed away on a ship in Holland coming to America.

All I know is my great grandfather was George Cornelius from upstate New York. He had 2 sons I am
aware of. One was a Dentist and the other was an Undertaker in New YOrk. I don't know his age or death
date.

My grandfather was from a second marriage to an Elsie Vader or Cady. Even her maiden name is a toss up.
Their son James Abel Cornelius would only say he was from upstate New York and story has it he was
disowned by his father because he married beneath himself. My grandfather James A. was born July 3, 1873
in New York. He married my grandmother Emma Sibley Bates in Bay City, Michigan in 1898. James Abel
died in 1949 in Bay City Michigan. My father James Frederick Cornelius was born 1914 in Bay City,
Michigan.

Kate Cullison was born about 1874 in Huntington, Pennsylvania. She married Charles B. Hotchkiss, son of Thomas Hotchkiss and Hattie Wright 1 Nov 1904 in Central City, Merrick, Nebraska. Charles was born 1 Nov 1864 in Bloomington, McLean, Illinois. They adobted a son named Theodore. The following information is found in the "History of Western Nebraska and It's People, Vol III. Charles B. Hotchkiss, who is interrested in several business enterprises at Gering, came to Nebraska thirty-five years ago and has been identified with much that has been valuable in the development of different sections. In a large degree he is a self-made man, beginning early to make his own way in the world, learning the give and take of business when many youths of his years in easier circumstances, were yet in the schoolroom. Mr. Hotchkiss was born at Bloomington, Illinois, November 1, 1864, one of a family of four children, two of whom survive, born to Thomas and Hattie (Wright) Hotchkiss. In early boyhood he attended school in Bloomington but was still young when he began to work on a farm on his own account. In 1884 he came to Nebraska and bought railroad land in Dawson county, ssubsequently engaging in the lumber, coal and grain business at Gothenburg. He was one of the enterprising business men of that prosperous town for fourteen years. Circumstances than attracted Mr. Hotchkiss to Grand Island in Hall county, where he bought the interests of the firm of Walker & Blaine, and for ten years afterward was associated with Thomas Bradstreet in the horse business. It was in March, 1913 that he came to Gering and started his implement business, in 1917 erecting a commodious brick building. He also owns a meat market here and also has a valuable ranch located within a shsort distance of the city. His numerous interests have mad him widely known and his business integrity has never been questioned.
